Muriel Villanueva, Premi of child-youth narrative in Valencia City of Denia 2019

Valencian author Muriel Villanueva Perarnau is the winner of the second edition of the Children's and youth narrative premiere in Valencia Ciutat de Dénia 2019 with the work The infinite island. The prize is endowed with 3.000 euros and the publication of the winning work in Andana Editorial.

The infinite island It is a story that tells us about the importance of family and friendship and knowing our roots. The girl Lluna and her yaya are the protagonists of this tender, sad and beautiful story.

The award ceremony, which included the presentation of the winning work published by the Andana publishing house, took place this afternoon at the Social Center of Dénia with the presence of the mayor, Vicent Grimalt, the Councilor for Culture, Raúl García de la Reina and publisher representatives.

Muriel Villanueva y Perarnau (València, 1976) is a writer. She has a degree in Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature from the University of Barcelona and a degree in Music Education from the University of Valencia, was a professor at the School of Writing of the Ateneu Barcelonès between 2006 and 2014. She currently works as a writing teacher with several entities.

Villanueva is the author of several novels, story books, children's and youth narrative books, short stories and poetry. She has been awarded several awards, especially for her short novel The cat.

The winning work has been selected from among the 19 works presented to this edition of the prize by a jury composed of Francesc Gisbert, expert in children's and youth literature; Jovi Lozano Seser, MACMA representative and writer; Llúcia Signes Mata, technician of the Municipal Public Library of Dénia who coordinates the award; Ricard Peris, representing Andana Editorial; Mar Reus Bas, technician of the Valencian Promotion Office of the City Hall of Dénia, and Llúcia Casanova, representing Andana Editorial.
