The Mercat Municipal de Dénia will become during this Christmas in the best showcase of local and seasonal products of the Marina Alta thanks to the campaign Menja't the Navy, which aims to promote the commercialization of local products and their traditional varieties.

For three days, municipalities, producers and chefs will present products such as perelló, almond and orange, all freshly picked and grown in the Marina Alta region. The presentations of the products will be the responsibility of the producers themselves and the mayors of the villages where they come from. In addition, in all the days there will be a demonstration of the culinary properties of each of the products with the intervention of chefs.

The products of season and proximity will be exposed from 9 to 13.30 hours in the central area of ​​the Dénia Market, where producers will offer tastings and will be available to the public to answer questions about the crop or the characteristics of its products.

Friday, December 15: The perelló of the Vall d'Ebo and the Vall d'Alcalà

On 15 Friday in December, at the 10: 30 hours, the tastings will begin with the perelló of Vall de Ebo and Vall de Alcalá, a product from the terraces of Pep Carreres. This presentation will have the presence of the mayors of the two populations. The culinary demonstration will be made by the chef Evarist Miralles, CdT professor and restaurant manager Cavall Verd of the Vall de Laguar.

Friday, December 22: Alcalalí almonds

On 22 Friday in December, at the 10: 30 hours will be presented Alcalalí almonds, harvested in the fields of the farmers of Elías Andrés, Faustino Maestro, Juan José Vicens and Miguel Andrés. On this occasion will be attended by the mayor of Alcalali and a demonstration by the Forn by Rosana Aramendi (Alcalalí).

Friday, 29 of December: orange of Dénia

On Friday 29 in December, also at 10: 30 hours, the product of the day will be the orange of Dénia, taken from the orange trees of Hort Obert and Mandarina Ecológica. The chef Pep Romany, from the restaurant Pont Sec from Dénia, will prepare a recipe with the orange with the main ingredient.

The Menja't la Marina campaign is a proposal of the Dénia Office of Innovation and Creativity and is part of the Action Plan of the Creative City of Gastronomy of UNESCO, which has among its strategic objectives to promote the project RED Local Food Ecosystem in Marina Alta based on a collaborative economy model, recovering the agricultural landscape and the regional demographic balance, and reconnecting people with cultural roots, the origin of food and territorial identity.
