The days 27 of September and 4 of October took place in the Municipal House of Culture of Denia the two dates for parents, mothers and families of Dénia included in the 2ª edition of Educant in the present, an initiative organized by the Unit for Community Prevention in Addictive Behaviors (UPCCA) of the Department of Social Welfare.
The attendance surpassed the fifty people in the global calculation of the two sessions. The balance that is made from the UPCCA is very positive, above all because of the participation level of the participants and their reflective and participative attitude.
The first meeting with the parents of Denia was the workshop Educate our sons and daughters in the values of effort, constancy and solidarity. The speaker was Jesús Ruiz, PhD in Psychology, Master in HR and Training Management, professor and researcher at the University of Valencia, Polytechnic University of Valencia and EDEM, educational coach in emotional competency management, entrepreneurship and personal and family counseling, especially in situations of adolescence. In this workshop the speaker explained how we have to pass the youngest of the culture of pleasure (to have, consume and waste) the culture of effort (give, ask and demand).
The second workshop was dedicated to Educational and preventive guidelines in Internet addiction and pathological gambling. On this occasion, the speaker was Antonio Castaños, general health psychologist, addiction expert, specialist in pathological gambling and director of Free life (Alicante Association of Affected by Ludopathy). An expert in the field of pathological gambling and its relation to new technologies.
In this session, the participants were given guidelines to prevent abuse of new technologies, with special attention in gambling and online, fields in which the youngest are immersed and there are mothers and fathers help them to have a self-control not to lead to an addiction.
La 2 edition of Educant in the present has been, once again, a meeting point and reflection on the education of the youngest, making the parents and the mothers participate in the process through which their sons and daughters pass through their evolution.
