The Department of Environment of the municipality of Dénia, directed by Juan Carlos Signes, a new challenge has been posed: eradicate illegal waste dumps in the city. The awareness campaign, aimed at all citizens, places special emphasis on the role of service companies that do not deposit their waste in the eco-park.
Environment will work side by side with the Local Police and Urbaser, the cleaning service concessionaire, to locate all the places where illegal discharges are made. The environmental inspectors will have cameras with built-in GPS provided by Urbaser that register the landfill geographically and the frequency with which they are used.
At the moment Urbaser allocates the work of three or four workers per week to the cleaning of these illegal landfills.
