A little over a month after the end of the year, the animal protection of Dénia APAD has taken stock. So far, a total of 592 dogs have passed through its facilities, many of which could be returned to their owners thanks to the microchip or to social media publications.
The rest, the dogs that are claimed, are fed and vaccinated in their facilities for 20 days, to recover their strength, and go through the adoption process. Each dog that enters is tested leishmaniasis (the disease of dogs in the Mediterranean), is dewormed, vaccinated, castrated and if ill is treated with expensive drugs or even operated. So far, 202 have been given up for adoption.
From the protector they explain that it is "Especially gratifying that every summer many foreigners visit the shelter and spend their time walking the dogs or helping in other jobs. Many have been coming for years and in this way many dogs were adopted".
APAD has the license of the Zoo Nucleus without which no animal can be sent abroad. In addition, the protector is constantly subject to reviews and controls by the Veterinary Office of the Valencian Ministry.
At the moment the protector keeps in its facilities to 90 dogs, that can go ahead thanks to the support of a German association and the caretakers of the protector. But for its operation, municipal assistance is necessary. From the protective indicate that they are waiting to renew the collaboration agreement with the City of Dénia.
Solidarity party
In order to face the expenses involved in bringing forward the dogs of the protector, this Sunday, November 25, APAD organizes a charity event at its facilities in Polygon Industrial.
The party will be set with the live music of Joe & Gary von The Orba Brothers and there will be a raffle with gifts, a book trail and food stalls. In addition, during the party, you can purchase the solidarity calendar of this year that has been prepared from the protector.
