More than 30.000 dose of flu vaccines lurking in the Marina Alta

This morning the El Verger Health Center hosted the presentation of the 2019-2020 flu vaccination campaign at the Marina Alta. The event was chaired by the mayor of the town, Joaquín Coll Moll; the Manager of the Dénia Health Department -DSD-, Luis Carretero; the Commissioner of the Ministry of Health, Juan Puig; the Director of Public Health of Dénia, Pascual Martí; the Head of Preventive Medicine -DSD-, Antonio Valdivia; the Director and Coordinator of Primary Care, Antonio Barceló and Natalia Casado, respectively, and the Team Leader and Supervisor of the basic area of ​​El Verger, María Jesús Torres and Marta Català, respectively.

The campaign against the flu from the Ministry takes the slogan “That the flu does not beat you. Getting vaccinated is health. Get vaccinated. ” During the presentation in the Marina Alta, a dose of the flu vaccine has been provided to attendees. The Department of Health of Dénia has received 30.550 vaccines to distribute in the region among people over 65 years, patients with chronic diseases, pregnant women and socio-health professionals.

All of them can do it in one of the more than 50 points enabled throughout the region, which are divided between Health Centers, Auxiliary Offices, Private Clinics, Mutual, Nursing Homes and Occupational Risk Prevention Services.

The objective that the health authorities set out this year is to increase the coverage among the population over 65 years and pregnant women up to 55%, and increase the vaccination rate above 60% among healthcare professionals.

In the campaign last year, in the Department of Health of Dénia, vaccination coverage reached 54% in the group of older 65 years, exceeded 51% among pregnant women and reached 90% among health workers, exceeding with you grow the objectives set by the Department of Health. The toilets also warn of the importance of the “nest strategy”, which consists in vaccinating all those who have direct contact with the risk groups.

The flu virus, which will peak at the end of January, has not yet made an appearance in the Marina Alta. However, the population is encouraged to get vaccinated with enough time for immunization to be effective.
