More than 3.000 brothers will meet in Dénia this Easter

Easter will be different in Dénia 2014 because the capital of the region it will also be the Board of Brotherhoods of the Archdiocese of Valencia, Dénia has chosen as the venue for this year diocesan meeting of the 23 30 March.

The Board of Brotherhoods of the Diocese of Valencia consists of 32 towns and cities representing more than 60.000 brothers. Since last year 2001 form part of the Brotherhood Jesus of Nazareth and Our Lady of Sorrows Parish of San Miguel de Dénia, which this year are responsible for organizing the meeting.

Throughout the week there will be religious acts, several conferences and an exhibition, but among all the scheduled activities highlights the diocesan procession which takes place on 29 March, chaired by the Archbishop of Valencia, Carlos Osoro and which will parade over 3.000 cofrades through the streets of the city.

The procession will begin at 16:30 p.m. with a drumming in the Plaza de Jaume I by the more than thirty bands that will participate in the procession whose route will take them along the Paseo del Saladar from its intersection with Calle Sagunto, Carlos street Sentí, Marqués de Campo, Diana and Patricio Ferrándiz until their intersection with Sagunto.

In the procession there will be more than twenty images of the participating brotherhoods, in addition to the carving of the Sang Santíssima, patron saint of Dénia, who in an extraordinary way will leave the church of Las Agustinas to participate in the parade.

Programming religious events

Religious events scheduled start on March 23 to 11: 30 morning with the celebration of Mass at the Jaume I Square sung by the Choral Society of Dénia.

The afternoon of the 28 of March, at the 19: 30, will take place the prayer of the solemn vespers in the church of the Agustinas with the voices of the Benissenca choir and the subsequent transfer of the image to the Church of San Miguel for its participation in the 29 day procession.

On Sunday 30 March will end the acts with a mass of thanksgiving sung by the Choir Teuladina in the parish of San Miguel (11.30 hours), the transfer of the Santíssima Sang to the Augustinians and a kisses to the image.

Exhibition and conferences

Religious acts are complemented by an extensive cultural program which highlights the exposure of the fraternities and sororities Easter composed images of each brotherhood, banners, posters, Vestas, photographs and various Easter related objects.

The exhibition will be inaugurated at the 23 of March, day in which it will have the participation of the Dianium Dansa group, which will dance dances of the corpus, and will be able to be visited until the 28 day of the same month.

Wednesday March 26, at 20 hours, there will be a concert in the parish of San Miguel in charge of the orchestra and choir of the Conservatory of Xàbia. Free entry.

In addition throughout the week they are scheduled three lectures at the Church of San Miguel open to the public to be held at 20 hours: The Santo Cáliz of the Lord's Supper in the cathedral of Valencia, By Jaime Sancho Andreu, director of the Museum of the Cathedral (24 day); The Brotherhoods of Easter: its social and charitable action, Given by José Máximo Lledó, episcopal delegate of Caritas Valencia (March 25) and The new evangelization in and from the Brotherhoods of Easter, by Vicente Botella Cubells, vice-dean of the Faculty of Theology San Vicente Ferrer of Valencia (day 27).

The program of events was presented by the mayor, Ana Kringe, the parish priest of San Miguel, Miguel Gavilà, and the older sister of Jesús Nazareno and Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, Clara Guardiola.
