The First National Contest of Rabbits and Guinea Pigs organized jointly by Mascotetes, the National Association of Rabbits (ASNAC) and the Association of Spanish Guinea Pigs (ACE) has gathered, this Saturday, about 150 copies, between both races, and their professional trainers.
In this first national contest held exclusively in Dénia, rabbits and guinea pigs from all over Spain and Portugal have participated, and an expert jury has been in charge of evaluating the beauty and quality of the different specimens and breeds.
The winners of each category have been awarded a trophy and recognition internationally.
Appointment for the general public
For its part, Saturday afternoon was dedicated to the public. All those owners of rabbits and guinea pigs who wanted to be able to show their pets and participate in a parallel "amateur" contest.
In this case, it was the renowned English jury, Joe Rogers, in charge of selecting the most beautiful specimens of rabbits and Daniel Benasiak and Ismael Maldonado, members of associations of rabbits and guinea pigs Poland and Portugal, the guinea pigs.
Dayana Tedesco, manager of Mascotetes has assured that this event "is very important for lovers of rabbits and guinea pigs, since it is the first time they have the opportunity to participate in a beauty contest in Spain".
Mascotetes are already thinking about the next pet event, V Festival Mascotetes, which will be held in Marina de Denia 8 9 and the June.
