30 June 2021 - 09: 29

The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has announced the advancement of vaccination for the 30 to 39-year-old age group, which will begin next Monday, and the recommendation to use the mask in outdoor spaces, except in beaches and natural spaces as long as the safety distance can be maintained.

This has been advanced after the meeting of the Interdepartmental Table for Prevention and Action against COVID-19, in which the extension of the current measures has been agreed from next Thursday, July 1, and for two weeks, it is say until July 15, in order to consolidate a "prudent and responsible opening" as well as "safe and effective" that fosters a "solid recovery" in economic, social and emotional terms.

During his speech, in which he was accompanied by the Minister for Universal Health and Public Health, Ana Barceló, the president assured that "vaccination of young people is now a priority", so it will be advanced by 12 days the generalized vaccination process of this population group, which had already begun in rural areas.

Puig has highlighted that in the last 48 hours, 52% of the infections detected are young people between 15 and 29 years old, and although many of them are asymptomatic, there are currently 20 young people under 34 years of age admitted and 1 in the ICU. Likewise, it should be noted that the cumulative incidence in this age group reaches 172 cases per 100.000 inhabitants.

For this reason, he has appealed to young people to maintain the "admirable maturity and responsibility" shown during the pandemic and to "care more about their health" and that of people who are not yet fully immunized.

Recommendation for the use of outdoor masks

Regarding the recommendation of the use of the mask, the president has indicated that it is recommended that the mask continue to be used outdoors, except in natural spaces and on the beaches. In this sense, he has called for prudence, and has urged to pay special attention both to the use of the mask and to the ventilation of closed spaces.

Regarding this last aspect, he stressed that the Ministry of Health has prepared a guide with basic indications to keep interior spaces ventilated, which can be consulted on the website and will be distributed by places such as shops, hotels, bars, restaurants cinemas, theaters or museums.

Opening of festive venues

For her part, the Minister of Universal Health and Public Health, Ana Barceló, has announced that among the measures adopted at the Interdepartmental Table, the opening of the festive venues, such as the Fallas' casales, stands out.

Barceló has indicated that as of July 1, the activity restriction and the opening and closing hours of these stores will decline, which will be regulated by the municipalities. In addition, you can consume food and drink following the measures established for the restaurant sector, such as closing bars, 50% capacity, and tables for up to 10 people. For the rest of activities, such as administrative tasks, the capacity of 75% is maintained.

Finally, the councilor has called for responsibility in the field of festivals, such as the Magdalena, the Fallas, Moors and Christians and any other popular festival held in the Valencian Community.

Group immunity in two months

During the event, the head of the Consell has referred to the advance "at high speed" of the vaccination process, which will achieve group immunity in two months. Currently two and a half million Valencians are already vaccinated and more than 1,6 million have received the complete schedule and are immunized, which means having doubled the number of vaccinated in the last month.

Likewise, he reiterated that the way out of the crisis depends on the "prudence and responsibility of each one" and that the persistence of COVID-19 continues to be a health, social and economic threat for the Valencian Community. The pandemic "is not over and no one can be trusted because it would be irresponsible, foolish and selfish," he said.

Rebound in infections

During his speech, the president expressed his concern about the detection of the delta variant, and the "significant rebound in the circulation of the virus", as can be seen in the increase in the accumulated incidence, which has passed 40, when it entered The current framework of measures came into force on June 8, at 75 cases per 100.000 inhabitants, registered today.

For the head of the Consell, the "progressive opening" of the restrictions against the coronavirus during the last month, with measures such as the end of the curfew, the perimeter or the mandatory use of masks outdoors, "has had effects" when coinciding also with the end of the academic year, the arrival of summer and good weather, and the feeling of security caused by mass vaccination, which has caused "more mobility, more relationships and less mask."

However, he stressed that "vaccination is making us overcome the pandemic", and that the rebound in infections has a minor health condition, as evidenced by the fact that hospital pressure remains stable, thanks to the fact that the most vulnerable population is already protected.

Specifically, he explained that the number of hospitalized people has gone from 137 to 126, in the last month, and that the number of beds occupied by COVID-19 patients is half that of the Spanish average, that is, 1%. In addition, he has ensured that the occupation in ICU represents a quarter of the state average, 1,4%.
