The hoteliers demonstrate in front of the town hall to demand more aid

The health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a severe blow to the economies of the municipalities, especially those whose main economic activity revolves around the hotel and tourism industry. This is the case of Dénia and the majority of towns in the Marina Alta, where hospitality entrepreneurs see how with each new restriction the possibilities of keeping their businesses afloat disappear.

Stopping the curve yes, but promoting aid to those businesses that are affected as much as the hospitality industry. With this objective, the hoteliers of the Marina Alta have demonstrated in front of the Dianense town hall, in a call organized by AEHTMA and supported by both CEDMA as for the Dénia Business Incubator, among others.

The association of hospitality businessmen has wanted to show that outbreaks of infections are not occurring in their premises, since most of these occur in homes, and that continuing to reduce the capacity of bars and restaurants will not improve the numbers of infections but it will cause more than one business to close.

Currently, in the Valencian Community, the hotel and catering establishments can only occupy a third of the capacity indoors and 50% abroad, something that, like many businessmen in the sector agree, makes it impossible to profit from the activity. "It is cheaper to close"say some of those affected.

With this demonstration they have vindicated the importance of keeping this market afloat, demanding the opening of lines of aid to one of the sectors most affected by the confinements and restrictions despite being, as shown by the contagion data, a safe activity.
