As a result of the events that occurred on May 8 during the match played in Alcoy between the children's teams of CD Alcoyano and the Municipal School of Soccer of Dénia, all the political groups with representation in the Dénia City Council -PSPV-PSOE, Compromís, Party, Citizens and Gent of Dénia- will approve in the ordinary May plenary session, which will take place this Thursday, a declaration condemning the xenophobic demonstrations in the field of children's and youth sports.

In the aforementioned game, one of the Dianenses players was subjected to insults of a racist nature and attitudes of contempt linked to the color of the skin by one of the players of the opposing team. "Regrettable facts that were aggrieved by the passivity of the referee and the coach of the Alcoyano team, who did not sanction this behavior of which the public and players were witnesses", highlights the text of the statement.

The councilors of the Municipal Corporation have agreed on this statement in view of the special concern that the events arouse "due to having occurred in the field of child and youth sports."

The role played by the Municipal Sports Schools in the city is also highlighted, which "in addition to spreading the love for sports and healthy living among boys and girls and promoting the most positive aspect of competitiveness and discipline, make a very important effort for the correct formation of players and technical teams in all those values that in the May 8 meeting were set aside when verbal violence on the field was validated due to lack of disapproval. "

The institutional declaration closes with a mention of the principles contained in the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Children and the reaffirmation, by the Corporation, of the "commitment to the duty of protection of children and Your rights".

This institutional statement will be sent to the Children's Council of Dénia so that the boys and girls of the city know "this obligation of their council to ensure their rights and not allow any example of violation to be overlooked."

This initiative, which will bring to the Plenary the official condemnation of the events by the City Council of Dénia, is added to the letter sent last week by the Department of Sports to the Referees Committee of the Valencian Football Federation, to request that they be adopted disciplinary measures against the referee who directed the game and the necessary actions are taken to prevent a referee action like this from being repeated.
