Dénia schoolchildren know first hand the situation of abandoned horses in APAC

17 2018 April - 11: 26

The Department of Environment and Climate Change, with the collaboration of the Protective Association of Friends of the Horse (APAC), has organized 9 visits to the shelter for equines located near the Xara. 184 students from the Cervantes and Raquel Payá schools participated in this offer of the Environmental Education program during the first quarter of the year.

Lois Ford, from APAC, was in charge of carrying out the guided visits, which began with an explanation of the mission of the horse protector, the problem of abandonment and the intervention of the entity. Next, the students participated in basic tasks of combing two animals that are in the refuge, characterized by their docility. Later they received an explanation about the professional attention to the horse of veterinarians, blacksmiths, dentists, etcetera, with projection of images. The visit ended with a walk through the area where most of the animals are.

The experience has been very satisfactory for the participating students. In the same way, APAC has valued very positively the collaboration with the Department of Environment to spread its activity of care and recovery of animals and the subsequent adoption by individuals or entities.
