The Valencian Community has managed to reduce infections by more than 97% since the beginning of the year. In January, a total of 161.661 cases of coronavirus were reported, representing an average of 5.214 people per day. This figure has fallen 97% in May, when 4.114 cases were registered, which is equivalent to 132 daily infections.

Likewise, by reducing infections, the number of deceased people has also been reduced. Specifically, 93% fewer deaths were registered in the month of May compared to January of this year. In January, 1.827 deaths from coronavirus were registered in the Valencian Community, and in the month of May 119.

The figures registered in January were reduced to more than half during the month of February, going to 68.639 registered cases, with an average of 2.451 infections per day. However, the number of deceased people increased compared to the previous month, and in this way a total of 1.894 people were counted.

The recovery soared in the months of March and April, drastically decreasing both infections and deaths. In March, 6.904 cases were declared (90% less than the previous month) and 459 people died (75,7% less than in February). In April, for its part, 4.968 cases and 160 deaths were registered (65% less than the previous month).

"These are hopeful figures that are the result of the common work between the administration and the citizens who, with their efforts, have allowed the virus to be kept under control," said Ana Barceló, Minister of Universal Health and Public Health. "These data will allow us, from now on, to take back little by little everything that the pandemic has stolen from us," said the minister.
