The educational centers of Dénia reinvent themselves to start the course safely

August 27 from 2020 - 10: 45

The City Council of Dénia has carried out in recent weeks the improvements requested by educational centers to adapt some spaces to the new safety regulations and take advantage of others such as classrooms to guarantee the reduction of ratios per class and 'bubble' groups.

At CEE Raquel Paya a new adapted bathroom has been fitted out to provide service apart from the students who will start the course in new classrooms. In addition, the auditorium stage has been dismantled, which will now be used as a classroom.

At the Montgó school, a stage has also been dismantled to use that space as a classroom; a new 'plasterboard' wall has been installed to open new classrooms; and new toilets have been put into service that until now were closed.

In the rest of the centers, the main actions have consisted in the dismantling of common use classrooms, of subjects such as Music, Religion or Plastic, which will now be used as new classrooms with stable groups.

Preparatory meeting for the beginning of the course

On the other hand, on Thursday, September 3, the management teams of all the Infant and Primary and Secondary, Baccalaureate and Training Cycles of the city will meet with the mayor, Vicent Grimalt, and the councilors of Education, Melani Ivars, and Health, Cristina Morera, and Public Health to specify the details of the beginning of the new course.

In a previous meeting, on July 31, the basic protocol for returning to school was already established, which included the relocation of spaces, entry and exit protocols and other organizational measures, safety and hygiene measures and the non-use of lockers .

The option of each center was also specified then, according to the possibilities:

  • The three institutes, Historian Chabàs, Sorts de la Mar and Maria Ibars, will report in the coming days on the teaching modalities that will be applied according to the course and space availability, taking into account that enrollment is still open.
  • The subsidized schools that also teach Secondary will give the classes in person.
  • All Infant and Primary students will attend class in person, respecting the number of students per classroom set by the health authorities and in 'bubble groups' with a stable and limited number of members.
  • The canteen service will be provided in the classrooms, to avoid travel around the center and contact with third parties.

Regarding the cleaning of primary public centers, which the Dénia City Council is in charge of, an increase of 10% of the contract is already planned so that each school has a cleaning person also in the morning to reinforce the service It is usually done in the evenings.
