Mayors and representatives of the municipalities affected by the closure of the section between Denia and Calp of 9 the TRAM line have agreed to regret the suspension of trains in summer but, after listening to the explanations of Railways of the Generalitat Valenciana, have been sympathetic to the decision.

Meeting of mayors of the region with FGV

Rafa Carrió, Acting mayor of Denia, he said "the priority is the safety of people", and that in this sense he understands that the Consell has decided to close the line until the improvements and modernization guarantee the well-being of travelers. For Carrió, the neglect that this line has suffered in the last 20 years on the part of the Valencian government denotes that the Marina Alta es "a disadvantaged territory" in the field of infrastructures.

In the same vein they have pronounced the mayors of Teulada, Carlos Linares and Gata de Gorgos, Magda Mengual, who took advantage to claim the Tren de la Costa and greater attention by the Generalitat Valenciana to this territory that both contributes to the Comunitat.

Ángel García and Rafa Carrió

These statements were made after the meeting in the city of Dénia with manager Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana, Angel Garcia de la Bandera, who conveyed to munícipes the reasons which led the Consell to take such a controversial decision. He explained the manager, "the general deterioration of the infrastructure, in which it has not been invested for more than 20 years, has an impact on the quality of the service and cannot continue in this situation". To make the 9 the TRAM line will match the rest of rail services, FGV to invest in the renovation of the line 44 million euros that will begin to be implemented in October this year with improvements in the stretch Calpe-Teulada .

Further work will be in the section Teulada-Gata de Gorgos and the last to be improving Gata de Gorgos-Dénia. From Ferrocarrils of the Valencian Government they did not provide any date of completion of the project, but it is estimated that at least elapse two years until the completion of the work and the line re-offer the full itinerary.

Buses to supply trains

While jobs are running, FGV enables performing the same bus route between the stations of Denia and Calpe, with the same stops the train and the same price on the ticket. The only thing that will vary times, as from August frequency step of the current 75 60 minutes to be achieved will increase.
