Teens have their say in school full of Denia to present their sustainable proposals

3º students of ESO dianenses schools are committed to sustainability. This has been demonstrated Friday morning during the school plenary session that was held in the city of Dénia and which have been the protagonists.

Students were invited to present their proposals for action which achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of 2030 United Nations Agenda. The proposals related to ODS have been developed by students of public secondary education institutes of the thirteen cities of Valencia adhered to Cities Alliance for Sustainable Development and they were exposed in full of Les Corts Valencianes last November, coinciding with World Children's Day.

Dénia has been the students of 3º ESO IES Maria Ibars which participated in the project, providing some of the proposals contained in the final document to be discussed in the plenary of Les Corts and have today signed the other centers Secondary Denia.

During the plenary session, the students were Vanessa Barrocal, Lucía Romacho, Carmen Zurita and Laura Berenguer responsible for exposing the conclusions reached in the middle.

The first proposal has been on the creation of green areas in the city populated with native species, to help reduce the effects of global warming and carbon dioxide emissions and promote savings in water consumption.

The second proposal focuses on improving communications between Alicante and Valencia to facilitate the mobility of people. More specifically, they call reality the Tren de la Costa, "so that the inhabitants of our regions can have the same opportunities as those who live in the capitals"And that the public transport system should be strengthened, "which would also help reduce pollution".

Thirdly they have exposed the need for campaigns in schools to promote collaboration between young people and associations working to eliminate inequalities, especially those dedicated to the integration of people with disabilities.

Finally, they have proposed that steps be taken to accommodate refugee children without families of war victims, "by offering a better life to them but also to us, that we can learn a lot from their experience".

Following exposure of its conclusions have spoken students from other center, which unámimemente have supported these initiatives, making hicapié in which can be carried out from Dénia. They have also opted for an increase in education spending and the need to educate for peace.

Council for Children and Adolescents

The plenum was presided over by the Mayor of Dénia, Vicent GrimaltAnd the Councilor for Education, Rafa Carrió. Joining them they were attended by the Councilor for Youth, Cristina Morera, and the councilor of PP, Isabel Gallego. Carrió has especially valued the work of all students in this proposal, emphasizing the right of young people to be heard and take part in matters affecting their future. Councilman of Education has used to announce the early implementation of the Council for Children and Adolescents. In this regard, the mayor has asked schools to participate actively in its implementation.

This representative body will be composed of children and adolescents democratically chosen by the students themselves and will meet regularly to discuss and design ideas and proposals with the aim of improving the city, enabling them to exercise their rights to participate, express opinions and be heard on all issues They affect them.
