Laurence Rastell achieved the bronze medal with Spain in the Snowshoe World Championship

The athlete Laurence Rastell comes from hanging on her neck the bronze medal for teams with Spain of the World Snowshoe Championship, which celebrated its 46 edition of the "Ciaspolada" in the Val di Non in the Italian Trentino.

Laurence Rastell, athlete of the Athletics Club Baleària Diànium, was tenth at the individual level, entering the finish line with a record of 53 minutes and 9 seconds. Together with their companions; Alexandra Fernández Collado and Melanie Peñalver got the third place for Spain.

The circuit, with a distance of 8.10 km, had to be covered with artificial snow during the last 20 days to be able to celebrate the Championship, with a budget of 1 million euros.

2.300 runners from 29 countries participated in the race, including two representatives of the Marina Alta, Laurence and Nasio Cardona from Javiense.

The exit was given to the 10: 30 hours leading the test Spaniards Nacho Hernando and his teammate Roberto Ruiz, who printed a strong pace. At kilometer 4 the local Cesare Maestri took the initiative of the race taking the lead, followed by world runner-up Joseph Gray and Hernando.

In the 6 kilometer another local, Alessandro Rambaldini, surpassed Nacho Hernando by sending him to fourth place and preventing him from taking third place during the last two kilometers.

Nacho Hernando crossed the finish line in fourth position with a time of 30: 30.86. The winner was Cesare Maestri, followed by Joseph Gray and Alessandro Rambaldini. Hernando was proclaimed World Champion in his category and got the bronze with the national team along with Roberto Ruiz Revuelta and Ignacio Cardona Torres, Athlete of the Llebeig Athletics Club Xàbia.

The Spanish women's team has also won bronze in this Championship with Melanie Peñalver Alles, Alexandra Fernández Collado and Laurence Rastell.
