The anticovid measures will remain in force for 21 more days

The Minister of Universal Health and Public Health, Ana Barceló, reported on the current situation of the coronavirus in the Valencian Community and announced the measures that are being adopted in the Community to contain the virus.

During his speech, Barceló pointed out that "The prevention measures against the coronavirus adopted last August for the entire Valencian Community will be extended for 21 more days, measures that were agreed for all of Spain in the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System".

This extension begins next Monday and mainly affects different social areas such as nightlife, hospitality, the celebration of different events and the consumption of tobacco in the street.

As Barceló has indicated, "These are measures that are showing their effectiveness in containing the virus, so it is important that we continue to work in this line to prevent infections and stop possible outbreaks and control the pandemic."

Likewise, the councilor has highlighted the important work that is being carried out in the Valencian Community of early surveillance and active search for cases. In fact, she has pointed out that. "We are increasing the diagnostic capacity. Since the end of the state of alarm, 640.000 diagnostic tests have been carried out, representing an increase of more than 152%."

In total, 1.057.457 tests have been carried out, of which 92% have been negative and only 8% have been positive. In addition, 40% of the cases detected since the end of May correspond to asymptomatic people.

Coronavirus status

The Ministry of Universal Health and Public Health has registered 707 new coronavirus infections confirmed by PCR test in the Valencian Community since the last update, which places the total number of positives at 37.553 people. On the other hand, 688 patients with coronavirus have been discharged, so the total number of people cured since the start of the pandemic stands at 38.870. In this way, there are currently 6.286 active cases, which represents 13,44% of the total positives.

Valencian hospitals currently have 463 people admitted and 8 deaths from coronavirus have been registered since the last update.
