The dianenses preschools unite against schooling project to 2 years

17 September 2015 - 14: 17

Dénia nursery schools have drawn up a statement showing their opposition to the initiative of the regional government of schooling for children of two years, a pilot project that Dénia has hosted two of its centers: Vessanes and Cervantes. We reproduce, for your interest, the full statement:

The rush are bad counselors and often result in unintended consequences. It happens in life in general, but may be more severe in aspects such as education of a child and at younger ages. The decision of the new government of the Generalitat to implement classrooms 2 years in public schools and the selection of two centers Dénia (CEIP Les Vessanes and CEIP Cervantes) for the implementation of the pilot, forcing us to preschools city to express together our opinion.

Not in vain, as has been taken, the initiative will undoubtedly have effects on our future work and personal, but also threatens to put at risk the quality of education from 0 to 3 years. It is precipitate, unilateral and unjust, but we are in time to correct it.

The decision is hasty, because it is announced two days after the start of the course and completely empty of content, as evidenced by the fact that it has already been necessary to introduce the first corrections on the fly. It is obvious that there has not been time to measure the consequences that a decision taken so lightly can have. And that is especially worrisome when it affects something as sensitive as the education of our children.

The initiative is unilateral, because it is adopted behind the back of the extensive network of schools and professionals of early childhood education that has been woven in our municipalities in recent years to respond precisely to the lack of interest of the administration to cover social needs increasingly evident, such as the comprehensive training of children in the pre-school stage and the reconciliation of work and family life.

Precisely because precipitous and unilateral, the measure is also tremendously unfair. None of the nursery schools that, for years, have been trying to cover that gap. And we do it by working and investing, day by day, in improving to climb the pyramid of standards and quality certifications that the administration -as it corresponds- demands of us.

For now the same administration 'premie' and the sacrifice of those who would have saved the ballot. Or is it not true that every year calls us to advance money from grants from the Generalitat parents, with the delays of the Department of Education to pay them? Who, if he has not us, helped to ensure work-life balance of families vaunted from the administration itself?

And all with a huge economic effort. Here nobody has hit the ball. Children's education is not, today, a business model, but of self-employment. Every day we have to paddle to stay afloat in an ocean of economic obligations (salaries, contributions, declarations, insurance, school equipment, maintenance of the facilities, ...) that we can hardly cover with the income from registration. There is no doubt that the administration will not find a quality public service cheaper than the existing network of nursery schools, which has adequate facilities and a qualified staff, not trained in two days of fast training.

Because one thing must be clear: the education centers of 0 to 3 years of Dénia we bet for that public service, and also for its gratuity. But the forms chosen by the new regional government do not seem the most appropriate to guarantee a quality system.

That is why we call upon the Ministry of Education that has the facilities and expertise accumulated by the sector for optimal achievement of these objectives. With project and qualified personnel to garantiar the best future.

In that way, the Government will have beside us and our willingness to cooperate is maximum. Together, we can get it.
