Connections to the Montgó sewer system advance after the first meetings with neighbors

12 March 2021 - 13: 54

Together with the Deputy Mayor and Neighborhood Councilor, Raul Garcia de La Reina, and the secretary of the municipal group of Gent of Dénia, Juan Pons, mario vidal, spokesman for the Dianense formation, appeared yesterday before the residents of Camí Coll de Pous in the House of Culture. It was about explaining the actions carried out and those planned, since he has held the special delegation of the Montgó and Rotas sewage system.

Since assuming the delegation, Vidal has been collaborating with the Technical Office of Sewerage in the drafting of various projects, data collection of the owners by existing and planned collectors, economic conditions, technical conditions, site visits, meetings with neighbors , with the heads of the Department of Environment, etc. Evaluating the possibilities to face the numerous inconveniences that have been encountered to date since, according to it, "We are going through a difficult time due to the pandemic that has delayed the processes; the legal reports received on whether or not individual connections could be included in special contributions or public tenders, the need to modify the sewerage ordinance, the poor quality of the works of the collectors made by the CHJ, the need to have planned improvements in the general network of Dénia and pipes to the treatment plant that can accommodate the increase in connections ". All this has meant that until now the machinery was not ready to start the works.

The priority at this time is to activate the connection to the network of those neighbors whose façade falls to the collectors made by the CHJ. Yesterday began by holding a meeting with the residents of the Camí Coll de Pous (Collector O) and each month an appointment is scheduled at the House of Culture with different groups of neighbors bordering other collectors.

Previously, each neighbor has received or will receive, according to the planned order, an Execution Order to connect and cancel their septic tank, given the obligation they have to do so since they are less than 100 meters from the network. A few years ago requirements were sent and very few were connected, so the Execution Order route will improve the conditions of effectiveness, both for residents and for the City Council, with the aim of connecting the largest number of homes.

Each one can do it individually, for which they need to comply with the foreseen technical prescriptions, pass the supervision of Aqualia and the City Council, deposit a guarantee for the cost of the works and assign them so that their maintenance becomes public. We have been working to improve conditions and, as, according to all legal reports, private works are concerned because they are individual attacks, the City Council cannot tender them, but the possibility is offered of it being Aqualia, through subcontracts with companies of the Association de Pequeños Constructores de Dénia, which manages the connections by groups of neighbors. In this way, residents may be exempted from the urbanization guarantee and may pay the cost of the work via SUMA with a deferral of payment without interest. In addition, the City Council will be able to asphalt at once the entire street and prepare the conduits at the crossings with secondary branches in the adjacent streets.

This proposal, made at the meeting by Mario Vidal, was, according to his training, a relief for the neighbors attending and for the president of the Montgó Neighbors Association present there, who provided her collaboration. Thus, it was agreed that in the next few days contacts would be initiated to specify all the aspects related to the subject.

From the Montgó Sewer Delegation they hope that all residents are aware of the urgent need to comply as soon as possible with the European directives that require connection to existing and planned networks, thus improving the scarce infrastructures of that urban land that never was such.
