The powers of the Santa Llúcia residence, closer to passing to the Generalitat Valenciana

January 26 from 2022 - 15: 11

The Vice Presidency and the Department of Equality and Inclusive Policies have begun the transfer of powers of residences owned by local entities to the Generalitat, in accordance with the provisions of the Law of Inclusive Social Services of the Valencian Community.

The General Director of Social Infrastructures, Enric Juan, explained that this is the beginning of a progressive process of transferring day care, outpatient and residential infrastructure and equipment owned by local entities, aimed at "ordering the public health system social services" according to the law promoted by the Department of Equality.

The transfer of these first residences represents a new step in the commitment of Vice President Mónica Oltra to build quality social services that attend to all citizens in the different stages of their lives, and at the same level of universality that they have health or education.

Enric Juan has detailed that the process has begun with 10 residential centers in the Community, which involves the transfer of the management of 216 places for people with functional diversity, 408 places for the elderly and 331 public workers, in addition to company workers currently managed by some of these centers.

As a first step, explained the general director, mixed commissions will be formed with representatives of the administrations, the Generalitat and the town councils, to articulate the transfer of these powers.

Specifically, the process has begun with the residences for the elderly in Santa Lucía de Dénia, the residence of the Mancomunidad Vid y Mármol, Sant Bertomeu de Benicarló, Sagrada Familia de Vall d'Uixó, residence Antonio and Julio Muñoz and residence of Banyeres de Mariola.

Regarding residential centers for people with functional diversity, the process has begun with the Doctor Esquerdo residences in Alicante, El Collet and San Francesc in Benicarló, the Oriol residence and La Casa Nostra in València.

The director general has recalled that the management of the care provided by these centers is "the exclusive competence of the Generalitat", while primary care, which is all that related to the management of benefits, such as dependency or income, corresponds to municipalities.

In this way, he pointed out, the transfer of the management of these centers will allow the residential network to have a single owner, which is the Generalitat, so that the town councils will be able to release funds to allocate them to "resources for the prevention and promotion of personal autonomy, promoting home care".

It is expected that the complete process of the transfer of powers will affect a total of 39 municipal management residences in the Valencian Community.
