The mountains of Alicante, we have this treasure so close, hiding places, people and stories that are worth knowing and that many of us ignore. Its natural wealth is one of the biggest attractions of the province, which has in its northern part charming places no need to look further.
The surroundings of the Serpis River are a clear example of this natural wealth. As it passes through the small town of L'Orxa, whose history It is closely linked to paper making, the landscape becomes green and rich, and opens the door to a multitude of outdoor activities ranging from Hiking to cycling tourism, orientation circuits or caving.
L'Albergue del Serpis
L'Albergue del Serpis, on the outskirts of L'Orxa and managed by Tururac, offers all these possibilities and also complements its offer with a place equipped for hostel guests and a restaurant with local cuisine whose menu is constantly renewed.
With a capacity for 28 people in four rooms, the hostel was completely renovated in 2009, and has also become the 1º BTT Center of Valencia.
Enter through the door is to feel immediately at home, because the kindness of Quino and joy of the dog Tatxeta facilitate, within seconds, the adaptation of anyone entering the hostel.
L'Albergue del Serpis is prepared to welcome lovers of all kinds sports, offering them a common area in which to relax next to the dining room and discover that inside, time stops and the rush disappears.
From the rooms, the view of L'Orxa, to the left, and Benicadell to the right, gives you an idea of the grandeur of the hostel's surroundings and what awaits us when we carry out the activities that Tururac organizes.
1º BTT Center of Valencia
L'Albergue del Serpis became the first BTT Center in the Valencian Community, an information and help point for cyclists where they can find a total of more than 250 kilometers of marked routes classified according to their difficulty.
Cyclists can go to the center but not staying at the hostel, as the information service is free. There they can get flat routes and information about other BTT Centers in the Region.
L'Albergue del Serpis also has an area where you can store bicycles while they are not in use, protected from inclement weather and in a safe place. In the storage shed there is also a space for bicycle repair.
Greenway
Starting at the old L'Orxa train station on the route that linked Alcoy and Gandía, this green Way It runs parallel to the Serpis and is suitable for walking or cycling. From that point you can see very close the remains of the castle Perpuxent, dated between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries and which crowns a huge rock in a unique way next to the Sierra de la Solana.
With a length of approximately 20 kilometers round trip, the greenway It connects L'Orxa with Villalonga and passes through picturesque places such as the light factory or the river's waterfalls, and along the way several of the tunnels built for the passage of the railway are visited.

The exterior of the hostel is a paradise for children, with a climbing wall that allows them to practice climbing, flying fox or network access to the top of the tower climbing wall.

A bit to eat at the restaurant

Its kitchen, managed by Joan, stands out for using products from the ground, from delicious cherries of the Vall to make the breakfast jam to the juicier sausages, perfect for a sandwich at lunch.
Fruits And seasonal vegetables bought from local farmers, goat cheese from animals that graze nearby, and natural flavorings like rosemary or thyme, which also serve as infusions. A true culinary delight that combines innovation with the most traditional dishes.
