Residence St. Lucia releases therapeutic gardens for its users

Residents of the Santa Lucía Residency are discovering a new activity that has been incorporated into the municipal facilities: therapeutic gardens, aimed at improving the quality of life of the residents of Santa Llúcia residence and day center.

These gardens represent a new recreational alternative framed within an active aging plan, since the use of the therapeutic value of the plants is very beneficial for the improvement of the physical, psychic, cognitive and social capacities of the users.

The project, which has the title cultivating Health, Has been built by the participants of the gardening employment workshop managed by Creama Dénia. In addition, the Pro-Residencia Association, for its part, has contributed financially with about 700 euros in the acquisition of the material for the construction of the tables of culture adapted to the needs of the users, and of the utensils and tools necessary for the development of the activity.

These orchards are fully adapted to the capacities of their users, and provide an opportunity to integrate the benefits of gardening and organic farming into the day-to-day of the elderly, increasing their quality of life.

Thanks to the hortoterapia, the users fight the depression, since it helps to the majors to generate a responsibility that does that it increases his self-esteem, and diminishing the possibility of suffering certain diseases, among other many benefits.
