The rehabilitation of the old market of Dénia is already a reality: this is how the future Sea Museum is inside

18 December 2018 - 13: 58

The 12 of June of 2017 started the remodeling works of one of the most identifying buildings of the Dénia port. The old fishermen's market started the way to become the Dénia Museum of the Sea. Just a year and a half later, the last 12 of December, with the reception of the works, the works were finished.

The works have been carried out respecting to the maximum the constructive characteristics of the building, a rectangular nave of 35'59 meters by 11'60 meters with brick face seen in the interior that has been painted on the outside.

The works consisted of reinforcing the foundations of the building, replacing the wood that supported the wood and changing it with a glass cover on which a metal framework rests. The pavement, designed exclusively for the work, simulates a photograph of the pixilated sea, and the metallic mesh of the roof, simulates a network of fishermen

The works were awarded to the company Binaria by 846.293'31 euros. Beatriz García Morales has been the editor of the project.

Once the works are finished, the result has been a diaphanous, polyvalent space, which at the moment looks empty but which in the future will be the headquarters of the Museum of the Sea. It will also host other exhibitions and has a space that will be dedicated to tourist information, given its special location in the port of Dénia.

The Minister of Housing, Public Works and Vertebration of the Territory, Maria José Salvador, visited this Tuesday the result of the work that her department has financed through the Plan Confianza. Salvador recalled that this building, which the Generalitat gives to the City of Dénia, will help bring even closer to Dénia neighbors to the sea.
