The Marina Alta goes to extreme risk of contagion after doubling the new cases of coronavirus

13 July 2021 - 09: 27

It still seems that we have not been able to bend the curve of this new wave of infections suffered by the Valencian Community, leaving us in a most vulnerable situation in the middle of the summer season. The relaxation of the restrictions continues to take their toll, and it is still too early to notice the results of the reversal of the de-escalation.

According to the Ministry of Health, which today has again updated the contagion data by health departments, that of Dénia, on which all the Marina Alta, has doubled its number of new infections. And not only that, but it has gone from adding 119, last Friday, to 277. Figures that had not been reached since the first week of February, in the third wave.

Of the 10.768 infections registered during the entire pandemic, 517 have been during the last 14 days. This means that the accumulated incidence shoots up to 303 infections per 100.000 inhabitants. Therefore, the region goes to extreme risk of contagion, being the only health department in the province of Alicante at this level.

In the case of the capital, Dénia, there is also an increase in the new positives, although not so pronounced. Since Friday, 39 new cases have been added (in the last update there were 28). Active cases are already 92 in the municipality, so the accumulated incidence rises to 214,82 and Dénia goes to a high level of risk of contagion for the first time since the third wave.
