Next Monday, July 17, and on an experimental basis, the Dénia City Council will launch the bus service for the La Pedrera-Montgó area, awarded to the company DeniBus. It is a pilot experience that aims, on the one hand, to facilitate citizen mobility and improve traffic in the city and, in addition, obtain reliable data on the real social demand for the service, costs, feasibility, efficiency and, In short, to evaluate if it comes from this type of public transport in the area.
Hours and Stops
The bus will follow a circular route with departure and arrival in Plaça Jaume I. In principle, twelve stops have been established: the already mentioned Jaume I, next to the Public Health Center; the IES Historian Chabàs; La Pedrera hospital; crossing Pare Pere; Assagador de Santa Llúcia and Camí del Merle intersection (ascent); Corral of Calafat; Galeretes restaurant; Assagador de Santa Llúcia and Camí del Merle crossroads (downhill); Al-Khalif housing estate; Lidl-Consum supermarkets; intersection of Diana street with Joan Fuster avenue; Juan Chabás Avenue, at the height of the Mercadona supermarket and the end of the route in Plaza Jaume I-Public Health Center. Together with these stops, new ones can be assigned according to the needs detected among the users.
The bus will carry out four daily trips, from Monday to Sunday, with departures to 8, 14, 16 and 20 hours, coinciding with the usual work and school schedules. The expected duration of each journey is about 35 minutes. The price of the ticket has been set at 1 euro.
The vehicle that will cover this route has 24 seats plus one for people with functional diversity.
The pilot test of the service will be developed up to the 15 in December and will enable statistics and practical data on the actual demand for this public transport line to be obtained as well as determine its feasibility and economic-financial sustainability.
