August 19 from 2020 - 09: 46

The Civil Guard has arrested seven people for being the alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health (for drug trafficking) and a crime of belonging to a criminal organization. One of them has already entered provisional prison.

The agents of the Investigation Area of the Civil Guard of Calp began the operation last May 2020 after learning of the existence of an address in that town, in which some type of narcotic substance could be distributed, due to the alarming movement of people, outside the building, despite finding ourselves, at that time, in a state of alarm.

The agents confirmed the facts and found out the identity of the alleged trafficker and, in addition, the identity of the person who would not only be supplying the drug to this first identified, but also to another 11 drug traffickers, from various municipalities of the Alicante province, in addition from Calp, such as Altea, Moraira and Benidorm, and 3 drug traffickers from Madrid.

This large-scale cocaine distributor had already served a sentence in 1.998 for the crimes of drug trafficking and murder, having been seized, on that occasion, the quantity of 23 kilos of cocaine and being accused of being the brain of a international network of cocaine drug traffickers, connected to several Colombian cartels.

These past circumstances would have served as an experience for him, in this new present criminal stage, to keep numerous security measures and carry out continuous counter-surveillance, when trading drugs and dealing with the different suppliers and final traffickers, considerably hindering the investigative work of the agents.

The alleged leader currently had a very extensive network of clients, being considered the nerve center of cocaine supply for several drug traffickers, settled in different municipalities in the province of Alicante and Madrid, coming to have under his belt and handle dozens kilos of cocaine, in order to meet such demand from buyers, during the more than 5 years that, according to the investigation, could have been trafficking with this substance.

On this occasion, during the development of this operation, the investigators observed that he was following a different modus operandi from the one carried out in the 1998 arrest, since now he was delegating the functions of preparation, dispensing and adulteration of the drug, as well as dealing with the client and the collection, in a third person, an employee, 67 years of age, with a history of a crime of money laundering, to whom he would have been paying a salary of 1.500 euros per month plus accommodation, for carrying out these chores.

The leader, therefore, was only in charge of traveling to Madrid to negotiate and acquire large quantities of cocaine. Part of this drug was distributed to people they trust in the capital of the country and the other remaining part was given to this employee, to be transferred to a "safe house" in Calp, where he lived and from where he was in charge of. storing, dosing and distributing cocaine, in turn, to the many smaller-scale traffickers located in neighboring towns.

More than half a kilo of high-purity cocaine was seized from this woman at the time of the registration of said “safe house”, a drug that, after being sold to the final drug traffickers and, after being adulterated by them in order to obtain greater profitability and higher profit margin, would have reached the market value of 120.000 euros.

These final traffickers sold the doses of cocaine at retail, from their own homes or, even, traveling to meet the client on the public highway.

One of the detainees, for his part, trafficked cocaine through the cocktail bar that he himself ran, creating considerable social alarm among the residents of the town, due to its proximity to an area of great tourist influx.

In this unprecedented operation, 5 entries and searches have been made (4 homes and 1 cocktail bar, all of them in Calp), in which agents of the Civil Guard of that town, of the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) participated and the Cynological Service, both from the Alicante Command.

As a result, a total of 7 people have been detained, 6 men between 45 and 60 years old and a woman, 67, who has already entered provisional prison, leaving the rest of the detainees on provisional freedom with charges, pending of judgement.

Although the investigation phase is closed, new arrests are not ruled out, given the numerous ramifications and complexity of this criminal network.
