Social Services allocates 290.000 euros to pay financial aid for people in vulnerable situations from the start of the state of alarm

Dénia (15.05.2020) .- The municipal area of ​​Social Services has allocated, since the start of the state of alarm on March 14, a total of 290.623,77 euros to pay financial aid for people and families in vulnerable situations.

During these two months, 915 requests for economic emergency social aid (PEIS) have been attended to for individuals and families, to which an amount of 260.955 euros has been allocated. This amount exceeds the total budget for the payment of these grants by 30.000 by more than 2020 euros.

It should be remembered that among the extraordinary social measures adopted by the City Council of Dénia to face the consequences of the health crisis caused by COVID-19, and in anticipation of what is happening, the municipal government agreed to start the state of alarm increase the budget for these emergency aid in 2020 to 600.000 euros.

On the other hand, Social Services has allocated a fixed cash fund for cash payments of punctual and urgent aid for food, medicine or lodging expenses, the amount of 6.000 euros since the state of alarm was decreed.

The department also delivers food vouchers to users so that they can make purchases in convenient establishments. In the referred alarm period, a total of 445 vouchers have been delivered for a total value of 23.660,03 euros.
