One of the most emblematic regattas that is celebrated in Dénia is undoubtedly the "Canal Cup". A competition that was born to commemorate, the trade between the Pitiusas Islands and Dénia. The appearance of some underwater archaeological finds caused that in the Real Club Nautico Denia This test was organized.
The Dianense club found the necessary support in the San Antonio Nautical Club "Es Nautic", the City Council of Dénia, the Sailing Federation of the Valencian Community and the Balearic Sailing Federation.
From the next 30 in September the participants in this classic regatta will be received in Dénia. The competition itself will start on Friday 6 and end on Saturday 7 in Ibiza waters.
The organization hopes that it will be a much quieter edition than the previous one, in which moments of anguish were experienced when one of the participants fell to the sea and after 8 hours she was rescued by the Maritime Rescue helicopter that moved her to La Fe Hospital in Valencia with symptoms of hypothermia.
