The Ministry begins the declaration of Cultural Interest of 'L'Escaldà de la pansa'

May 11 from 2018 - 13: 34

The Ministry of Education, Research, Culture and Sport has initiated the file to declare Cultural Interest Asset (BIC) L'Escaldà, the process of transformation of the muscatel grape into raisins that is carried out in the towns of La Marina Alta, La Safor and La Vall d'Albaida that was promoted from Jesús Pobre.

Last March, the mayor of Jesús Pobre, Javier Scotto, presented by registration the necessary technical documentation to obtain the denomination.

In this new documentation an important modification was included, the implication of all the central regions in the BIC request. It was one of the recommendations to the promoters of the escaldà declaration as BIC, understanding that it is a process that has been carried out in a certain area. Therefore, the new BIC nomenclature will not only affect l'Escaldà de Jesús Pobre, but also the municipalities of the Marina Alta, Marina Baixa, La Safor, Vall d'Albaida, the two Riberas and l'Horta Nord counties.

After about three years of paperwork, this is the final line of the denomination, which comes with more than 600 neighborhood firms, five agreements of neighborhood associations, twenty agreements of municipalities, two agreements of county institutes, an intercomarcal agreement, and the Welcoming of the Provincial Councils of Alicante and Valencia.

From the Generalitat recognize that currently there is an implication of citizenship to maintain this tradition, which takes place annually between the months of August and September, although the cultivation of the vine and agricultural tasks take place throughout the year.

The most remarkable thing is the recovery in some particular country houses of the production of the raisin, as well as the realization of 'l'Escaldà' of popular, collective and public initiative, which at least takes place once a year in different populations like Jesús Pobre, Xaló, Montichelvo, Terrateig, Llíber, Benicolet, Teulada and Massarrojos. In the case of Jesús Pobre, it is carried out by the same association of neighbors of the locality.
