The region raises its voice against cuts in a rally without incident

November 14 from 2012 - 16: 09

The streets of Dénia hosted this 14N regional demonstration against the cuts and policies of the central government. Between 2.000 and 3.000 people according to the Police and 10.000 according to the organization toured the city with slogans against the government of Rajoy and against banks.

Among the demonstrators we could see the Platform for Public Health, the Platform in Defense of Public Education, the organizing unions, the Firefighters of the Marina Alta, representatives of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana and a platform created by individuals to help disseminate the actions of the different groups.

At the 11 of the morning, the march started from Archduke Carlos Square with approximately 3.000 demonstrators, which increased during the tour. It was an uneventful demonstration in which political slogans predominated and lasted about an hour and a half.

Around the 13 hours the head of the demonstration reached Glorieta, where Vicent Balaguer read the manifesto agreed by the Social Summit that was read in the other manifestations of the Valencian Community.

After reading the manifesto the participants in the march decided to go up to the Plaza de la Constitución and continue the protest at the doors of the City Hall. The National Police tried to prevent the passage of protesters in the street Cop, but it was of little use because the majority opted for other ways to get to the consistory.

Once in the square a police cordon was placed in the doors of the building to contain the demonstrators, who did not show intention of accessing the town hall. A few minutes later the demonstration dispersed quietly.
