Fishermen collect the turtles accidentally caught for conservation and recovery

The Fishermen's Association of Denia has become the second in the province of Alicante in Cuba have a collection of sea turtles accidentally caught by vessels fishing in our waters daily.

The project, promoted by the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and the Environment, has the support of the Oceanographic of Valencia, which has donated the tanks, and even where turtles for their conservation and recovery move.

From now on, fishermen in their nets they find a copy of loggerhead, green turtle bastard or have a place to deposit them until the Department takes over the animal. This procedure does not involve any penalty or fine for fishermen, on the contrary, from the Department acknowledge the collaboration of fishermen.

The general director of Natural Environment, Alfredo González Prieto explained in Dénia last year about 70 copies throughout the Region, where more than 19.000 endemic species also recovered there.

From the Department are considering the option of the release of the turtles recovered this year throughout the Region, held in December, is made this year in the waters of Dénia.
