Next October, the Chinese city of Shundé will inaugurate the International Center for Gastronomy and Culture, a space included in the scope of the Macro Theme Park project. The building is equipped with kitchen, exhibition hall and all kinds of services and has a cost of more than 5 million euros.

Dénia, as a member of the network of Creative Cities of Gastronomy of UNESCO will have access to these facilities, from which you can promote your gastronomy and commercial activities, a way to access the Asian market.

This proposal was formalized last week during the XIII Annual Creative Cities Conference held in Italy. In the gastronomic pavilion, the collaboration agreement between the 26 gastronomic cities and the city of Shundé was signed, through which the gastronomy cities will be able to use the International Center for Gastronomy and Culture of the Chinese city for their activities of promotion and commercial type.

In this sense, the Shunde delegate, Fang Li, met with the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, to explain the dimension of this collaboration and invite Dénia to the inauguration of the center next October. At the same time, offer cities the possibility of opening businesses and companies related to gastronomy in Shundé and, more specifically, in its new thematic and leisure park, which will open its doors to the public together with the aforementioned international gastronomy center.

Being located in one of the most prosperous regions of China (Foshan, province of Canton) and given its proximity to Macao and Hong Kong, the International Center of Gastronomy and Culture of Shunde will constitute a unique platform for the promotion of Dénia and the Valencian Community in the Asian continent.

Annual Meeting of Creative Cities

The XIII annual meeting of Creative Cities, organized by UNESCO, was held from 10 to 15 in June in the Italian city of Fabriano under the motto Building the ideal city. The annual conference was attended by the president of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and attended by representatives of the 180 cities that make up the UNESCO network.

In the Forum of Mayors, which was attended by the Mayor of Denia, Vicent Grimalt, and around 60 more political representatives, it was reflected on the contribution of cities to sustainable development, taking into account that for 2050 one third of the world population will reside in urban areas, so it is necessary to explore new forms of economic and social innovation.

The gastronomic cluster formed by 26 cities -including Dénia- met in workshops in which the action plan of the Gastronomic Network was established, several transnational projects were exposed, examples of good practices and the calendar of the next meetings . In addition, the incorporation of the new cities that opt to join the Unesco Network was discussed. Dénia, through his focal point, Floren Terrades, participates in the evaluation process.
