"The library that Dénia deserves" opens its doors with citizens turned over to the event

February 09 from 2019 - 14: 15

Neighbors and neighbors of all ages visited this Saturday morning the new premises of the municipal library, in an event that has become a great celebration to celebrate heritage and culture.

From Monday on, it will start working with its usual schedule (Monday to Friday, from 8: 30 to 21: 00 and Saturdays from 10: 00 to 13: 30), but today was the day to investigate and get carried away by the rooms, the corridors, the grand staircase and the spectacular terrace of the rehabilitated building of San José Street.

A day that has been branded by the mayor, Vicent Grimaltas "one of the most important in the legislature", by returning to the neighbors a space that until now was abandoned and in danger, a few words to which the councilor of culture has adhered, Rafa Carrió. After months of construction, this new space has become "the library that Dénia deserves", and a good example of this has been the coming and going of hundreds of people throughout the morning.

During the morning there have been guided tours, although the most numerous event has been the children's storytelling that has taken place in the children's library, with dozens of children and their families enjoying the performance.

The new library changes location, but continues with the same essence and the same background: 80.000 volumes of books, CDs, magazines and catalogs of which 70.000 are available in the different rooms and the other 10.000, in the warehouse. This has been explained by the municipal librarian, Llúcia Signes, whose work and that of the entire team has been widely praised by the municipal authorities.
