The summer offer of the beaches de Dénia is expanded this year with a new service of the municipal department of Libraries: the Bilioplatja, physically located in the wooden hut installed at the end of the first section of the Paseo de la Marineta Cassiana.
The objective, as explained by the Councilor for Culture, Raúl García de la Reina, is to "launch a complementary and enriching offer to the sun and the beach and invite bathers and strollers to read". To make the proposal more attractive, next to the Bibliopatja, a shaded area will be set up under the trees, with a platform and benches to sit and read.
On-site daily press consultation services and loan services will be provided for 15 days. The books that are taken to the Biblioplatja will have to be returned to the same point.
To start this "pioneering and experimental" project, the Biblioplatja has a catalog of 1.000 novels and children's literature titles, in Valencian and Spanish. "We have taken advantage of, to begin with, books that are duplicated in the library funds, many coming from donations."
The Biblioplatja will be staffed by two people hired by the company Pavasal, the concessionaire of the beach cleaning service, and will be open from June 16 to September 30, Monday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 14 p.m. and from 16 p.m. to 19 p.m. h.
