When the new summer season was presented in the beaches of Dénia the weeks before the summer, the Councilor for Culture of the Dénia City Council, Raúl García de la Reina, surprised by announcing a new project that combined literature and the beach. It was the first time we heard about the Biblioplatja, an initiative with a very good intention but whose reception was quite an intrigue, since nothing similar is remembered on the coast of the Marina Alta.
La Biblioplatja It is an extension of the Municipal Library that allows the loan of books and the enjoyment of them in a booth installed in the Marineta Cassiana, which also has a reading area with furniture placed for this purpose. A bookstore overlooking the sea, the dream of many. But, of all?
It remained to be seen if it could go from being a good idea to a functional idea that was consumed. And, in fact, it has been. The Biblioplatja has been a great success. During August, July and the middle of June, more than Per people They have passed through the booth to consult the catalog or consume the daily press. In addition, there have been 618 loans of the books that were offered in the space, half of these during the month of August.
"In general, the service has been very well received and we are very satisfied," he tells us. Llúcia Signes, Municipal Library of Dénia. "It has been well accepted and many people who walk or go to the beach find it and are pleasantly surprised."
From the City Hall they are shown just as satisfied and affirm that they will do their best to repeat next year, perhaps with an extended offer. Signes, in the same way, hopes to be able to repeat the service that has been received with such success: “We would like the service to continue in the future and, if it works well, to open the service also in another location. This year we are testing and seeing what users demand of us ».
The Biblioplatja and its collection of about 3.200 books for now they continue to welcome anyone who wants to enjoy the sun, the beach and a good book on the Paseo de la Marineta Cassiana. And so it will be at least until next September 30. Hopefully that will be the case next year as well.
