Ovarian cancer, the sixth cause of cancer mortality in women

As detailed by the president of the association, Isabel Llorca, ovarian cancer is the fifth most common in women. More than half originate after menopause. In our country, it is the sixth cause of cancer mortality in women. It is a malignant tumor that can be generated anywhere in the ovary.

The most common form of spread is local, within the abdominal cavity. In addition, lymph nodes may be involved in the pelvis, neighboring organs such as the bladder and intestine or distant organs (metastasis).

It is very difficult to detect symptoms, so it is usually detected late, when what is really needed is to start treating it as soon as possible.

Cervical cancer, second cause of death in women from 35 to 64 years worldwide

Cervical cancer is a very slow-growing tumor due to the development of cancer cells in the cervix. The main risk factor is infection with the human papillomavirus, or HPV.

To prevent this, it is essential to use a condom correctly and with all sexual partners, as well as having a cytology every three years. Primary prevention and secondary prevention together with improved treatment are the most appropriate methods to reduce the importance of cancer as a health problem.

Keep in mind that cervical cancer is the second cause of cancer death in women between the 35 and 64 years worldwide.
