Today Thursday, the trial of a man accused of trying to kill his partner and his son, whom he mistreated and threatened for years, starts in the Provincial Court of Alicante.
Defendant and victim, both of British nationality, were married in 2004. In 2016, the family settled in Dénia. According to the prosecutor, for at least ten years, the accused subjected the woman and her son to continuous humiliations, insults and threats. From 2016, the mistreatment became physical, with pushes, hair pulling or punching.
The 16 of April of 2017, when the son, of 20 years, was sleeping in one of the rooms of the house, the defendant entered the room with a hammer and hit him several times in the head. When the mother came out in defense of the victim, the man grabbed her by the hair and also tried to hit her with the same hammer. The public prosecution requests a penalty of 35 years of imprisonment for the crime of attempted murder, another of attempted murder, three crimes of abuse and two of threats.
