Jesús Pobre highlights the figure of Pare Pere with the inauguration of a mural of the â € ˜Miracle de lâ € ™ esbarzerâ € ™

It tells the centennial tradition of the neighbors of Jesus Pobre that the Pare Pere went to Pozo de Jesus Pobre for water, and there was a bramble (esbarzer) that one day tore the Franciscan garment with his spikes, so the Pare Pere punished him by leaving him without spikes, making him the only specimen that exists with this botanical characteristic.

Taking into account the devotion to the Pare Pere and the attributed miracle, this bush spread through the town, and it is usual to have in all the stalls of Jesus Pobre a specimen of thorns without thorns according to tradition.

Knowing this popular tradition that led to the denomination of the well as the Pou del Pare Pere, after the redevelopment of the surroundings that supposed an urbanistic pressure on this architectural element, the Eatim de Jesús Pobre decided in 2015 to undertake the project of diffusion of this oral tradition, to improve the environment of the Pou, to explain its denomination, and the reintroduction of the botanical copy so unique

This Tuesday, 26 of December, the works of valorization of the oral tradition of Pare Pere have been officially presented. Thanks to a grant from the Provincial Council of Alicante of 12.000 euros, a study of the murals (manises) of the Convent of Jesús Pobre with the authorization of the property has been carried out, and on these originals of the 18th and 19th centuries, the manual reproduction of an explanatory mural of the scene of the miracle of the bush.

After contacting the School of Superior Art of Ceramics of Manises for the technical assistance of the project, this entity remitted the Eatim in the Factory-Museum of the heirs of Jose Gimeno (La Cerámica Valenciana) of that town.

This factory-museum is recognized with national and international Crafts prizes, and is specialized in
the artisan manufacture of Valencian peanuts from the 4th and 1th centuries, and following the same technique the murals of the convent of Jesús Pobre, has designed and executed the scene, a mural of 50 meters x XNUMX meters, which includes as central pieces the figure of Father Pedro, the Well and the bush, in the background the reproduction of the town of Jesús Pobre and which also constitutes the coat of arms of the Eatim according to the original conventual murals, and in the background, the Montgo and the Tossal of three mills.

The scene is accompanied by the only text currently written on this oral tradition, an excerpt from the opera "Fray Pedro El Descalzo", Act II, 1º picture, whose author is Luis Fornés, "El Sifoner", as well as the execution of two planters of tartar in which two specimens of the bramble that the neighbors of Jesús Pobre have possessed have been reintroduced.

In the presentation of the mural a reading of the time of Father Pedro by Lluis Fornés, "El Sifoner" has been carried out, as well as a subsequent explanation of its design and artisanal execution by the Factory-Museum of Manises La Cerámica Valencian
