One year has just passed since the Ribera Group took over the management of the Department of Health of Dénia -DSD-.

Throughout these months, the II Collective Agreement of Marina Salud, a commitment has been made to build a new health center in Dénia and a series of care milestones have been achieved, as a result of cross-cutting work between professionals throughout the Group.

From the clinical point of view, underlines the Managing Director of the Department of Health of Dénia, Dr Javier Palau, “We have joined the Breast and Heart areas of the Ribera Health Group, from where the care and scientific activity of more than 50 specialists in breast pathology is coordinated”.

In addition, the Diagnostic Imaging Service has acquired in this last year a new 3D mammography, which has an updated and improved high-resolution detector implanted, which allows biopsies to be performed by tomosynthesis. It is a technique that offers a three-dimensional view of breast tissue and improves the detection of invasive cancer.

With regard to the Heart of Ribera Area, to which the Hospital de Dénia, "We have unified cardiovascular care protocols, reducing clinical variability and promoting organizational, diagnostic and therapeutic improvements that optimize patient health outcomes".

Finally, with regard to the clinical field, adds Palau, “We are also developing a chronicity program, which will lead the Department's Primary Care, and which will soon begin to bear fruit. Our objective is to have identified and included in a care plan all patients with chronic disease of the Marina Alta".

Human Resources

The Manager of the Department of Health of Dénia ensures that, "although it is true that, like other health departments, not only in the Valencian Community, but in the rest of the country; we are facing a serious problem of the shortage of health professionals; the fact of working in a large group -with more than 7.000 employees-, it helps us establish synergies and work as a team to, at times, make up for the lack of professionals, without affecting the health outcomes of patients."

In this matter, "We are very satisfied with the signing of the II Collective Agreement, which was an aspiration that had been under negotiation over the last few years, without fully materializing."

CSR

In addition to advances in Human Resources, technology and clinical practice, in recent months there have also been milestones in other fields such as Social Responsibility. The Council of Patients has been created, an initiative consolidated in other centers of the Ribera Group, and which has been successfully imported by the Dénia Hospital.

The DSD Patient Council brings together around thirty associations from the Marina Alta and was born with the idea of improving the assistance received by patients, family members and caregivers; as well as publicizing the novelties launched, both by the hospital, as well as by associations or other public bodies.

Dr. Palau assures that they have already held three editions in which needs are emerging that we are responding to. “It is important to work along these lines because the administrations or health companies are there to solve the issues that society demands of us”.
