Dénia Hospital receives the 'TOP 20' award for management for the last five years

El Hospital de Dénia has received the prestigious award TOP 20 in the category of Best 2010-2015 Trajectories en Global Hospital Management.

The Top 20 are based on the comparison of results between more than 200 Spanish healthcare centers, which voluntarily submit themselves to the evaluation of thirty indicators and distinguish those centers with better performance and higher quality and efficiency in aspects such as efficient management of hospital stay and surgery without admission, in comparison with the measure of readmissions, complications and mortality, adjusted for risk.

TOP 20 Hospitals is a free and voluntary hospital evaluation program, based on objective indicators, obtained from data that are routinely recorded. It offers the health sector a useful benchmark for improving results, based on quality, performance and efficiency indicators.

In this sense, the Director of the Hospital of Dénia, Juan Cardona, has highlighted the "importance of being able to compare with two hundred Spanish health centers with similar characteristics to ours and thus establish the mechanisms for continuous improvement and continue working on the quality culture that we have implemented".

TOP 20 Hospitals it adapts to the new paradigms of health services management, focusing on Management by Processes with speci fi c indicators in each clinical area analyzed. More than 30 processes with more than 120 indicators are analyzed in 8 clinical areas: Nervous, Respiratory, Heart, Digestive, Musculoskeletal, Kidney and urinary tract, Woman and Critical Patient Care.

The distinction of Best 2010-2015 Trajectories highlights the centers and clinical areas with very notable improvements in the last 5 years without ever having obtained top positions in the TOP 20.

In the previous edition in the Valencian Community were awarded with the prize of Global Hospital Management at the University Hospital La Fe of Valencia and those of the Alzira concession model: University Hospital of La Ribera and Torrevieja.

The delivery ceremony, held at the Reina Sofia auditorium in Madrid, was attended by the Managing Director of the Department of Health of Dénia, Luis Carretero, accompanied by the Care Director and the Director of Care and Services, Juan Cardona and Catalina Espín, respectively. Luis Carretero, pointed "the importance of the distinction since it is a boost and a boost for professionals" to those who have thanked them for the effort and dedicated the prize because, "Without them, we would not have come here".

    Well, that does not coincide with the opinions of the users. What is the use of a prize awarded for 'you know what interests' when the Center suffers from a bad management suffered by citizens? Maybe to shut up all the wake-up calls they've already received? Terrible use of public money by the hands of a private company. That's the problem.
