The Hospital de Dénia, precursor in the treatment of herniated discs by endoscopic technique

February 12 from 2018 - 12: 42

El Hospital de Dénia is a pioneer in the Valencian Community in offering Column Endoscopic Surgery for the treatment of lumbar disc hernias and foraminal stenoses.

The Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology Service of the Dénia Hospital has incorporated this simple technique into its service portfolio, which can be performed in all cases of herniated discs in the lower back. It consists of an access to the lumbar canal, through minimally invasive procedures, with a camera or endoscopy for which only an incision of 18 millimeters is required.

According to Doctor José Francisco Lizón, responsible for the ROT Unit of the COT Service, "Endoscopic Spine Surgery is indicated for all types of lumbar hernias, which are usually 95% of those that require treatment".

In addition, most of this type of minimally invasive interventions are for Major Ambulatory Surgery (CMA), which does not require hospital admission. Dr. Lizón underscores the advantage of Column Endoscopic Surgery, "since the patient's recovery and incorporation into normal life is much faster".
