Welfare bioethics assists professionals to make decisions in complex clinical situations, such as the treatment of pain, the end of life, the limitation of therapeutic effort or in certain clinical situations or the attitude of rejection that a patient may face. some treatments.

The Department of Health of Denia celebrated last Friday, 1 de dicembre, its II Day of Bioethics directed to health professionals of the Department. The objective was to inform them about the tools and counseling channels available when making clinical decisions that raise ethical conflicts. At the opening of the meeting were present the Managing Director of the Department, Luis Carretero, accompanied by the President of the Committee of Assistance Bioethics and Coordinator of the department UHD, Dr. Rosario Baydal.

The first intervention of the day was the responsibility of the Chair of the Committee of Ethics of the Valencian Community, Marina Gisbert, who spoke about the bioethics committees and their functions. Gisbert assured that "One of the main instruments of Bioethics are the Committees of Care Ethics; consultative bodies, of multidisciplinary composition, that help citizens and professionals to guide their actions in case of moral conflict".

For his part, the President of the Valencian Society of Intensive Care, Miguel Fonbuena, in charge of the second presentation, focused on the complex aspects of bioethics at the end of life. The closing paper was delivered by Dr. Josep María Payà, bioethics consultant and member of the Committee of Assistance Bioethics of the Department of Health of Dénia.
