HLA San Carlos celebrates today the World Environment Day with the planting of one tree for each newborn

05 June 2018 - 10: 58

Today is the World Environment Day, a day set by the UN that aims to raise awareness among the population on the importance of environmental conservation. The HLA Hospitable Group and specifically HLA San Carlos, has joined this initiative to honor the moms and dads who have had a baby throughout this week.

With the help of the NGO 'AMMA', they have launched the 'gift a tree' project, through which they will reforest areas in need of our forests. For every baby born from the 4 to the 10 in June, HLA will donate a tree, and parents who wish may follow their evolution and go to visit. "With this nod to the happy moment of birth, we want to take the opportunity to participate in this global initiative and thank the moms and dads who have trusted our centers to live one of the most important moments of their lives"explains Luisa Bautista, president of the HLA Quality and Environment Committee.

Certified commitment

In addition, last year, AENOR verified, through its audits in the centers, that the implementation of the defined operational control complied with the applicable environmental legislation and with the requirements demanded by the ISO 14.001: 2015 Environmental Management standard. These results were issued in a joint audit report of the entire HLA Group, which includes more than sixty strong points. Among which the certifying entity noted both the environmental commitment of the centers that have been incorporated into the global environmental management system, and the effort made by the HLA workers.

Although the global certification was achieved at 2017, HLA hospitals were already working on environmental issues for more than a decade. The environmental commitment of HLA is a continuation of the one already acquired by the hospital group at 2016 with the achievement of the ISO 9001: 2015 certificate in quality management for its entire healthcare network and its processes. This was a key step for the homogenization of the service, which positively results in the experience of their patients, of which the 95% are satisfied or very satisfied with the care received.

Environmental actions implemented in the HLA Group

Of all the most important developments in the group's centers, the change in the relationship with the environment stands out. Among these, is the relationship with suppliers, who are asked to have a tacit commitment to the conservation of the planet, especially those that generate a greater environmental impact. Not only have measures been taken with these interest groups, but also with patients, relatives, visitors and workers as well as with the environment, assuming the commitment that will help to minimize environmental deterioration.
