Will there be a train from Dénia to Gandia? Truths and lies of the latest provocative ad

May 22 from 2022 - 09: 00

At Lóleo Eventos, Marina Alta and La Safor we are more than accustomed to the fact that every few months the question of the train that connects both regions (and by the way the Region, from north to south) re-enters the political agenda. It is not for nothing that it is the historical claim par excellence of the area, at least since 48 years ago we were cut off from each other. Now, a new announcement has caused a political earthquake, creating new hope in a project that, however, has little to do with what has been claimed all this time.

The start of this new episode of the soap opera came with an unexpected announcement by the secretary general of the Party, Carlos Mazon, during the Share Marina Alta forum. As president of the Diputación de Alicante, he announced on May 12 that his administration would promote the long-awaited union between provinces from Dénia to Gandia. Now, the project in question was not a connection with the train, but with a tram.

Here the first lies arise for those who were waiting for the train. This has nothing to do with the highly demanded connection with a coastal train that connects Dénia and Gandia. This is a tram with which to make this journey along the coast, passing through various points of coastal interest. Very turistic.

Despite the many similarities, they are means of transport that do not serve the same purpose. The train joins long journeys at a higher speed, with greater comforts for it. The tram is what the city bus would be to long-distance buses. Many stops, a "walking" speed, smaller capacity and few passenger amenities. If the intention is to go from the starting point, Dénia, to the end, Gandia, the duration of the journey may be excessive. In addition, without counting the obligation to carry out a forced transfer in the case of wanting to go from, for example, Alacant to Valencia.

Another big lie is that the Diputación can undertake this project. Mazón, initially, defended the possibility of making the connection through a collaboration with the Diputación de València. However, the powers are of the Generalitat Valenciana and the Government of Spain. Despite this, after a timely rectification by the president of the Provincial Council to qualify that they were carrying out a project but whoever had to do it would have to execute it later, Mazón has assured that the study of the tram line will be finished before the start of the year.

A truth, it seems: shortly after Mazón's announcement, the Generalitat counterattacked announcing that they already had a secret connection project. Another lie, repeated: it is not a train. the councilor Arcadi Spain He showed his indignation at the fact that the leader of the Valencian PP was ahead of him, since he assured that they had a project on their hands which could have leaked to the popular party. The Generalitat also had an idea, and it is also for a beach tram. Hiding behind the fact that they do have competences for the issue of trams but not for trains, and admitting a lack of agility (or interest) on the part of the Ministry to solve this problem, he announced his "viable and serious" project. Of course, admitting the great complexity that its realization supposes.

The most important truth: elections are just around the corner. The parties know how important it is to conquer the Marina Alta and La Safor regions, so the railway connection is usually a classic campaign promise (in our case, along with the hospital). The PSPV, through the Conselleria, says that he will present his project in June; the PP, through the Diputación, will do it before the end of the year; and in 2023, still without train or tram, but promises to give and give away, we will arrive at the polls.

Neighbors and businessmen here have agreed not to take these "projects" seriously anymore. "It seems that nobody remembers the Gandia-Dénia Train until the elections are approaching," said the Business Cercle Marina Alta this Monday. This is a truth that should be of concern.

And it is that they are all the same, that of pollution, it brings them fresh (that of road trips that would be eliminated) the only thing that interests them is the armchair once they have taken it, to be forgotten for another four years. And to come back with the same theme, it makes you want to not bother going to vote, it doesn't change anything except the politicians.

    Good Morning.
Regardless of what the politicians and "policies" of the governments that have existed so far and their promises and projects say they only fill pages and empty speeches with content by repeating ad nauseam words such as conjunctural, sustainable and more sustainable and more sustainability . For those who form huge committees of advisors and managers, who are not usually generally knowledgeable in the matter, which of course cost money and a lot, which usually ends up with the amounts allocated for the projects to be promoted, monitored and finished.
in consequences. EFFECTIVELY THE PROJECTS ARE POSTPONED AND POSTPONED LEGISLATURE AFTER LEGISLATURE and the train, in this case passes like the one from "SAN FERNANDO, A LITTLE ON FOOT AND ANOTHER WALKING".
    What is true? Greetings.
