Gumersindo Berná wins the II «Ciutat de Dénia» Clarinet Competition

The cultural hall of the Real Club Nautico de Denia hosted last Saturday II Clarinet Competition "Ciutat de Dénia", Organized by the Agrupació Musical and Artistic involving clarinetists they arrived from Catarroja, Aldaia or Madrid. The winner was the clarinetist Albatera Gumersindo Berná Minorte.

Gumersindo played the compulsory subject "Mar i Cel", Composed specifically for this contest by Salvador Brotons, and "Abyss of the Birds" O. Messiaen, as a free theme. Thanks to its excellent performance earned a diploma, a lithograph and performing a concert in the 2012 International Music Week, Valued at € 1.500.

Far María Ribes was the winner of the second category, with the work "Theme and Variations" of Francisco Amat (obligatory), taking besides the diploma and the lithography, 100 € in musical material donated by Sanganxa Music Store.

The jury was formed by Juanjo Mercadal (solo clarinet del Liceu in Barcelona), Francisco Amat (deputy director of the Band Symphony Municipal d'Alicante), Salvador Brotons (composer and director of the Municipal Band of Barcelona and the Orquestra de Palma) and Frank de Vuyst (Artistic Director of Agrupació Musical de Dénia).
