Gloria Medina, member of the club Union Cycliste Montgó, competed for Multiesport-Calafrut-UcMontgó and won the MTB XC Autonomous Championship in the 30 Master category, held last July 14 in Elda. This is the queen test of the Valencian Community in this modality of Mountain Bike because it grants the desired regional jersey with which it must compete in successive tests during the 2019-2020 season.
A week later, last July 21, he also participated in the Spanish Championship of the same modality in Arguedas (Navarra) leaving 6a of the 30 Master category.
This type of competition, also known as rally, consists of traveling between 3-6 turns a short circuit (approximately 5 kilometers) with a cumulative slope of about 200 meters and characterized by extreme physical and technical hardness. Cyclists must choose between very difficult and fast paths (jumps or vertical and broken slopes) or less technical but longer paths. The power and the pedaling technique are prioritized in order to conclude as quickly as possible the number of turns in the circuit.
As a novelty, this year in Arguedas, there was a live broadcast through the Championship's Facebook page, which made it possible to follow the Championship from all continents.
Although Gloria is a native of Canals (Valencia), 2 has already been competing for the club in Mountain Bike rally and marathon mode at the national level and in UCI competitions, as well as in MTB circuits of the Valencian Community. In fact, this season 2019 has won the Circuit BTT de la Ribera and, in the absence of two tests, is the women's leader of the Circuit BTT of the Comarques Centrals.
