22 June 2021 - 10: 10

Gerard Sastre Escortell, alevín player from the Municipal School of Denia, will be part of the team that will represent the Valencian Community in the Regional Team Championship scheduled for June 25-29 in San Fernando (Cádiz). The player will be the only representative of the province of Alicante in the final squad that will travel to the tournament.

Gerard, born in 2009, is 1,81 meters tall and has been included in the FBCV Technification program for three years, when he was the youngest and completed his first season at the Sueca headquarters with other colleagues.

Last year, in his first juvenile year, before the interruption in mid-March 2020 of all activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he came to carry out a good number of work sessions at the Ondara Headquarters in which were also seven of his teammates in Dénia.

The Federation has had this course with a very limited margin of time to form the alevines selections, since the restrictions began to be lifted and the Superior Sports Council decided to convene this Championship of Spain.

On the one hand, Victor Miralles and, on the other, Cinthya Pulgarín, were also invited to the first calls, but they did not overcome the cuts that the coaches had to decide week after week.

The list of players of the School who have achieved the merit of being included in the different teams of the Valencian Community rises with this call of Gerard to the figure of thirty in the last ten seasons.

"A very important figure for a population like Dénia and an indicator of the strength and excellent health of this sport in the city, under the strong commitment of its City Council for school-age sports, using the formula of entrusting clubs What Dénia Básquet the management of the interests of its sporting modality ", they point out from Dénia Básquet.

The female and male juvenile selections have been summoned at the Joan Fuster Pavilion in Dénia this Wednesday, June 23 at 20:00 p.m., to carry out their last training and stay focused before traveling to Cádiz, where they will debut on Friday at the Spain Championship.

"Dénia Básquet wants to congratulate Gerard and thank his family for the effort made to reach this important moment. Of course we wish both teams a good trip, all the luck in the world and the best of experiences in the coming days. We will be pending of what happens in San Fernando ", they conclude from the club.
