Gent de Dénia promises a roundabout on Alicante avenue and a longer Saladar promenade and at a single height

May 08 from 2023 - 14: 22

mario vidal, mayoral candidate for Gent of Dénia, along with his team, presented several of his proposals on mobility this Monday that would affect traffic in the city not only for vehicles, but also for bicycles and pedestrians.

To begin with, they recover in the program for 28M the project for the roundabout on Avenida Alicante, at the junction with Avenida Montgó and Calle Hermanos Gavilà. A critical point, according to the training, where the scares are continuous and the traffic lights do not respond to needs. For Vidal, this large roundabout would solve all these deficiencies, would make traffic in the area safer and would force vehicles on Avenida Alicante to reduce their speed.

It is not the first time they have presented the project, since it was already proposed in a plenary session and it was promised that the feasibility would be studied by requesting a police report. However, after so long, Gent de Dénia recovers it so that it becomes one of his main promises. Although in his program there is room for more roundabouts.

They have also indicated that they will be in charge of building a roundabout at the southern access of the Dénia Yacht Club, where they affirm that large traffic jams occur in summer due to the high influx and the lack of clarity of that crossing with multiple access and exit options.

A longer and level Saladar walk

However, the project that attracts the most attention is the boulevard that they plan on Paseo Saladar. Gent de Dénia proposes to do a great work so that the road is all at the same height, widening the sidewalks so that they have a width of 2,20 meters and respecting all the elements of the central promenade, as well as each of the parking spaces they have insisted. With this action they hope to energize the commerce so punished in the area, indicating that this new single platform would allow alternative uses of the street, occasionally closing it for events, facilitating the leveling and placement of scenarios if necessary.

In addition, they want their Saladar promenade to be longer and better connected, betting on agreements with the owners of the buildings that obstruct the promenade to give it continuity between Diana street and Jaume I square.

On this promenade, pedestrians will be the main beneficiaries, since their preference will be maintained at crossroads in the central area of the road, extending this format, which is already used at some points, to the rest of the road. But they must share the ride with the bicycles, since Gent de Dénia wants to allocate a few meters from the center to the creation of a bike lane, as they assure that the city urgently needs a network of lanes that it now lacks.
