Generalitat begins the training of drivers for the TRAM in the start-up of the section between Dénia and Gata

November 30 from 2022 - 13: 37

The tests have already begun on the route of Line 9 of the TRAM, between Dénia and Gata de Gorgos with the new machines (dual electro-diesel trains), to verify the operation of the security system.

Driver training began with the arrival of the new trains. In this way, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) has begun the process of training the circulation of the personnel that will provide service in the section that joins Gata de Gorgos and Dénia, corresponding to Line 9 of the TRAM d'Alacant and that is planned Open to the public early next year.

The training process for the more than 30 train drivers assigned to this service is carried out in one of the new dual electro-diesel trains that will circulate between Dénia and Teulada.

With the commissioning of this section, the users of Line 9 that connects Benidorm and Dénia must make a transfer in Teulada, from the new dual vehicles to the diesel trains, to continue their journey since they cannot travel to Dénia for reasons technical and accessibility

The new electro-diesel units offer an updated design and technical and accessibility characteristics in accordance with existing regulations, and are compatible with the use of state-of-the-art security, control and communications systems.

In addition, the diesel engines of the new dual trains comply with the strict European standard EN 2004/26/CE III B for the approval of engines and atmospheric emissions.

These new trains guarantee greater reliability and safety, as well as comfort, accessibility or customer information, in accordance with the standards that FGV provides on the rest of its lines.

From FGV it is pointed out that with the beginning of the training period, another and almost definitive step is taken for Dénia to recover the railway service, about six years later, once a large part of the modernization works of this line have been completed, in which that the Generalitat has invested more than 150 million euros, thanks also to contributions from European funds.

FGV completed the tramway works in August which, in coordination with the Town Hall of this town, have also made it possible to condition two new stops along the route that ends at the Dénia station and which is conditioned for these new trains.

In the visit, a few weeks ago, of the Minister of Territory, Rebeca Torró to Dénia, it was announced that the end of the works and the commissioning of the service is scheduled for the beginning of 2023.
